You know how everyone hates the sound of their own voice when they have to hear it played back to them? Well that pretty much sums up how I feel about my writing, so I am hoping I don't regret writing all of this when I read it down the line. That was an awfully pessimistic way to start a blog, wasn't it? Wow. Well, let's just get into it then. I came across a blog titled "Be Brave Project", and I am deciding to try my own version of it. The "project"/blog was inspired by the famous Eleanor Roosevelt quote, "Do one thing every day that scares you" . I have found my own quote that has inspired me to take action and DO SOMETHING. This is the quote that started it,

"Act boldly and unforeseen forces will come to your aid" ~ Dorthea Brande

Who's Dorthea Brande? I had no idea until yesterday. I "googled" her and found out she is the author of a book called Wake Up and Live. I was immediately excited to go to the campus library and pick up this book, but to my surprise and misfortune, they could not find it. I am now waiting until it "turns up".....unlikely at best.

Basically what the "Be Brave Project" asks you to do is step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself to do one thing that scares you everyday. This is not a revolutionary idea, but something that so many people lose sight of during the day-to-day. To be honest, I am terribly bored with my life right now- it fees hopelessly stagnant. I feel clausterphobic, and I am much too stubborn to let it get the best of me. As an English Major I enjoy writing and reading, but I hate my own writing with a passion (it always feels cliche---ugh). So, Brave Act numero uno is writing this in the first place and making it semi-public. Also, this is even braver becuase I have lots of homework I should be doing instead. I have a class that I read for every week, but the professor still accuses me of not reading .....look at the highlighted pages! I don't just color the words for fun! And what will I do tomorrow/today? I have no idea. I did just read a biography about Vivien Leigh (Gone with the Wind) and one time she said to a waiter..."You deserve to be kissed!" and kissed him....this may be a little too bold to start out with, but perhaps as things pick up. Hopefully something will come to me by tomorrow morning...
